About
Hi, I’m Taki — a video game developer, music composer, and pianist currently working on my game engine and an unannounced video game project.
I first held a controller when I was three or four years old, and since then I’ve been fascinated by virtual worlds and how they work behind the scenes to the point where I eventually started creating my own.
I started making games as a kid, which is when I first learned what a game engine was. I was fascinated that tools like Unity, CryEngine, and Unreal were used by thousands of developers to create the worlds I loved. Even without knowing English, I would experiment by pressing buttons to see what happened. Most learning resources were in English, so I couldn’t go far, but as a kid that didn’t matter. I built levels, played with the default character controllers, and did simple scripting. Those early limitations taught me a lot about game design.
In the past, I also made short films and wrote a lot of scripts, even ones I knew I couldn’t record. The fun of writing alone was enough. Around this time, I became interested in soundtracks and started composing orchestral music. Soundtracks connect all the things I love — movies, anime, and games — so it felt like a natural next step for me.
I got back into game development while learning more about dynamic music for games. I started making small games and scoring them, and I remembered how much I loved game design. At the same time, I discovered how much I enjoyed programming. Today, I think I love programming as much as I love music.
Jumping to the present, I am currently working on the Hana Engine, my own game engine, and an unannounced game project that I can’t wait to share more about.
When I’m not writing code or making music I’m usually playing games or watching anime. If you’d like to chat about any of that, feel free to reach out through my social media DMs. For anything work-related, please send me an email at MadeByTaki@gmail.com .
